Description

The Contactor in the MK 1 starter os designed for expecptional endurance. The coil is tropicalised and subjected to rigorous tests for continuity, pick-up and drop-off. It also acts as undervoltage release disconnecting the supply to motor when voltage is low. Each stater or contactor can be fitted with two auxiliary contact blocks of 1No + 1NC each for indicating lamps, sequence interlocks and other pilot circuits.

Description

When relay is used to transfer a large amount of electric power through its contacts is called contactor. contactor have many auxillary contacts either normally open and normally closed .Three elements connected in series with each phase going to motor is called overload heaters. Each element is a low resistance strip of metal which is heat up and draws the motor current. if temperature of any elements reaches at a maximum point then contact will be normally closed. Normally Closed is connected in series with the relay coil then relay coil opens automatically de-enegize switch off the motor. contacts or overload heaters elements provide overcurrent protection for large motors.
